A history long sixty years
Dorgali Winery has been for more than 60 years one of the most important companies in the Sardinian wine industry.
Located in the center of the Cannonau traditional area, between large valleys, plateaus and terraced slopes, situated between Supramonte and Gulf of Orosei, it produces unique and high quality wines which enhance the culture, history and traditions of the region. This variety is, to this day, the most widely cultivated vine in Sardinia.
During the harvest season, the pickup of the grapes is still carried out by hand. 650 hectares of cultivated vineyards and about 27.000 q of grapes are produced respecting and taking care of every single plant, according to the teachings transmitted from father to son.
Dorgali Winery has managed to obtain important awards such as “The medal of Cangrande” 2016 at the Vinitaly and numerous awards given to individual wines, during the most important national and international events.
Floral and elegant white wine
Sardinia is certainly the land of choice for this vine which, together with Cannonau, represents the most typical expression of regional wine production, the most important white Sardinian grape variety. Coming from the Iberian Peninsula, it arrived in Sardinia through Corsica at the end of the 1800s and from the lands of granitic decay of Gallura, where it found its ideal habitat, it has spread throughout the island, where it currently occupies an area of about 4,300 hectares.
The Vermentino cultivated in Sardinia gives a wine of great personality that is not matched with other Italian and foreign wines that also bear the same name: half of the world production comes from Sardinia.
Its presence throughout the island, characterized by different cultivation environments, means that the wines produced reveal, together with the classic and typical quality characteristics of the vine, also strong and singular personalities, expression of the different production areas.
This delicious 100% Vermentino marketed under the brand “I vini delle Brezze” comes from a careful selection of grapes produced in the vineyards of Cantina Dorgali, in central Sardinia.
The soils in this area have a high amount of decay granite and limestone, resulting in a light and floral white wine, which is characterized by the subtlety of lemon scents and the surprising and delicious bitter almond aftertaste. Tasty with a pleasant sour note that gives it freshness, elegance and drinkability, it’s perfect as an aperitif for appetizers and snacks, combined with shellfish and vegetarian meals, or with white meats, soft cheeses and fruit salads.
